Mystery figures are small collectible toys sold in sealed blind boxes or bags, so the character inside stays a surprise until the moment of opening. Each series has a checklist of characters, usually with 1 or 2 rare chase figures, and the unboxing moment is half the entertainment. Duplicates become trade currency at school. Blind box collecting lands hardest with kids 6-8 and tweens 9-12; the surprise format mostly frustrates preschoolers.
